If you go into a Nicholson's pub and don't find an opulent Victorian interior, you should be disappointed. But don't worry, you definitely won't be disappointed here - the fixtures and fittings are everything you would expect of the brand and if that's all you're looking for you'll be happy here. Owing to its prime location, the clientele can be unpredictable: it can be crowded with tourists and after work drinkers - usually Friday nights - or occupied by a few regulars and shoppers. The food's decent, with service both downstairs and in the upstairs Liberty Bar (which is often empty, and a better place for a conversation). The fare is Nicholson's so expect a good range of beers on the five hand pumps, well kept and well served. You can even try the beer before you buy in their "Sip before you sup" promotion - very nice.
