picture of Hope and AnchorThe Hope & Anchor sports a splendid tiled exterior, which is probably the most architecturaly interesting feature of the pub. The interior's nothing spectacular, with stripped wood floors and a large central bar on two levels. It tends towards a local clientele when there aren't gigs on at Koko (formerly the Camden Palace) next door, and it feels pretty local. The upper level of the pub is dominated by a pool table, and there's a jukebox as well. The only ale on tap was off last time we were in, so the selection tends towards lager and Guinness. It does get pretty horrendous before gigs, which is worth remembering, unless you like that sort of thing. The rest of the time, it's an unpretentious local and as a previous reviewer said, almost timeless, making it a decent enough place for a drink.
