The Marble Arch, Manchester
FancyaPint?'s review...
It is in no way a slight on the Marble Arch that we start this review by mentioning the floor. It's the slope to be precise, which slightly unusually follows the gradient of the side street down towards the bar. Patrons who've maybe enjoyed one too many of the raft of excellent ales could easily be caught out, but of course upstanding members of the community like ourselves always know when to stop drinking. The Grade II listed inn's interior has other features worthy of your attention, including some wonderful original tiling, with 'brandies, gins, whiskies'' among words engraved up near the high ceiling. The ale, rather than spirits, is more likely to attract its mix of clientele, with a generous range from the Marble's onsite microbrewery joined by several interesting options at all times. Their own beers are vegetarian for those that don't like the idea of fish finings in a pint. The Marble has the feeling of a local, helped by being slightly off the main drag, but isn't more than 15 minutes from the centre of town. It really is deserving of your custom.
