A couple of years after closing its doors, the Wig & Gown has returned to Holloway Road to replace Lil' Red, which never quite managed to draw the crowds in like its sister 'Big Red' a mile up the road. It is not just the original name which makes a comeback, but the entire ethos of the establishment goes back to the W&G of old. The sign outside proudly states that you have five screens to watch inside and this gives a clear indication of the market the owners hope to attract, or indeed have already attracted. The other noticeable change is a return for the pool table, which sits at the front to provide any smokers outside with something more interesting than the traffic to watch.
