The Victoria is a loosely royal theme pub (lots of pictures of its namesake) is larger than it looks from the outside and goes all the way through to the next street. It hasn't changed in years, which is probably because it doesn't need to - the regular clientele of workers and tourists get what they expect and in fairly short order - the staff are attentive and pretty good at keeping orders straight. Because it attracts local workers, it gets correspondingly busy at lunch and commuting time. The reasonable beer on tap and inexpensive food are the draw we're sure. It is very close to Victoria Station and not a bad place to meet people, if you're looking for something a little less rammed, than other places around here. And, in the event of good weather, the tables outside are far enough from the main road so you don't choke on hydrocarbons.

Despite its chain-esque environment and open plasto-pub feel, the Victoria does seem to be one of the safer bets in this commuter and tourist hotspot. The ale selections was good and in fine condition, and the menu is surprisigly affordable and wide ranging. Good as a starter for ten if setting off from Victoria...
