Located on the same street as UK's leading supplier of heating and plumbing products, the Victoria is a striking boozer. The handsome but tired Truman's exterior with an air of faded grandeur gives way inside to an island bar with leatherette bench seats around the walls. It's had a bit of a spruce up since we were last in and the menu has, if anything, gotten better. Simple but well-prepared fare at lunch times - a good place to pop into for a sarnie and chips (apparently you can still get takeaways brought in in the evening). Unfortunately, all the tables were set for lunch when last in, but seats outside on a sunny day fit the bill pretty well. It was definitely more populated than last time we were in, and the slightly harried batman coped pretty well and kept his cool. Nice to see it in better form. We love that the old fashioned tills are still in use, harking back to another day.

How to find the The Victoria pub

The easiest way to get to this one is to get on a Number 1 bus and get off at the start of Grange Road. Take your first right down Page's Walk and you'll find the pub on your right. Otherwise it's a long walk from London Bridge or an even longer one from Borough tube.

Overview

The Vic is a traditional pub serving hand-pumped real ales.  Lunch served until 3PM weekdays with daily specials.  Late license Fridays and Saturdays.  Quiz night every other Tuesday.  Our landlord is friendly and welcoming and the locals have had all their shots and almost never bite.  We're a bit off the beaten track... you often hear people whispering to each other they wish they'd found it earlier, as it's a dying breed of handsome Victorian pub with many original features retained.  It can become your local the instant you walk through the door for the first time.  The Vic has been run by the same family for the past 27 years.
