Two nearby but unconnected pubs have done a bit of a coincidental swap. With former rockers hangout the Old Kings Head having recently shifted it's focus to football, the Unicorn has done the opposite and become a live-music rock pub. Where Gooners once got misty eyed over the collection of memorabilia, you'll now find a black painted stage. We've seen Rock 'n' Roll and Country Blues listed, but Metal seem to be the genre of choice. Credit must be given, though, as there's never any entry charge levied. On our early Saturday evening visit it was clearly in transition phase between with the remaining lunchtime drinking older fellas and the first of the evening's rock fans. The décor is functional and comfortable, with pool and table footy to keep you occupied. Only a mediocre selection of drink, however. The Unicorn is the kind of place which would fit in well over Camden town proper and we wonder whether it's out-of-the-way location will be a bonus or a hindrance.

How to find the The Unicorn pub

This one's midway between a couple of tube and rail stations. The nearest is probably Kentish Town: exit the tube station, turn right and then right again down Leighton Road, before eventually taking a right down Torriano Avenue. When you reach Camden Road the pub should be on your left.
