After a disastrous and much delayed refurbishment, the new-look Lion has been open for a while now. As such, we toddled off here on a Friday night to see how it has fared. Run by the same people who own the Three Crowns up the road, this new enterprise seems to aim at a marginally younger crowd than it's sister, with the average age around 25. Inside it would appear not a huge amount has changed. The large circular bar is still in place surrounded by battered furniture and posters are fixed to the ceiling. Chesterfields on the far side of the room are much sort after, while upstairs you'll find the games room, complete with pool, table footy and a bunch of 1970s lounge furniture. Football also features for the big matches and we've seen it get pretty busy at those times. They've managed to bag themselves a 2am weekend licence, so if you fancy a lively, noisy and busy bar this might just fit the bill.

Have been a N16-er for 25 years (my wife was born here) and this is probably one the better incarnations of this pub. Still, not surprised to read about the surly service though. Had a most unpleasant Sunday once. I won't bore with details but we won't be coming back until management changes - yet again.
