The Hare, Bethnal Green
FancyaPint?'s review...
This pub's unprepossessing exterior hides a very good local. It's a popular, friendly place which serves decent beers - there's usually a couple of ales on tap - and some jolly good sarnies too. If you're feeling in a vino frame of mind there's a cheap, but decent wine list and possibly the cheapest champagne in any London pub. There's always a buzz of conversation going on and the sport on TV is not solely limited to the footy (although it will take precedence). In fact, more than one sort of sport can sometimes be viewed on different tellies simultaneously, catering for a range of tastes. There are also regular live jazz sessions on Sundays. Add to this very friendly service and you can understand why it attracts both older locals, along with younger flatsharers, all of whom happily share the pub. The Hare's a thoroughly decent local boozer, we wish there were more like them.
