The Gunmakers (ex-William Wallace), Marylebone
FancyaPint?'s review...
Following a refit a few years ago, this pub has taken on a definite gun theme, from the small field guns outside the door to the shells displayed in glass frames attributed to the London Gun Co. The traditional (and weaponry dedicated) decor is emphasised with the wood panelling on all the walls. The staff are friendly, the clientele seemingly local office workers when we were in last time - we even spotted a Yank in with a work colleague telling the girls behind the bar how much he liked it! We think he was talking about the food, and we'll have to get back and try it as we understand the ingredients are sourced locally from shops like the Ginger Pig and La Fromagerie. What we tried of the beers on the four taps was good and well kept. If this is aiming to be part of 'Marylebone Village', we think it's doing rather well.

This is a superb little pub, that is hidden away behind the bustle of Marylebone High Street. During the week there is a mixture of friendly locals and hords of after work drinkers. At the weekend, Saturdays are often dominated by the football mad, as there are two large TVs showing sky sports. If you head down there on a Monday night, you'll find a good - if somewhat taxing - pub quiz.
The staff are friendly, and the locals eccentric - a small selection on the pumps, but all the usual beers/lagers are there and they are well kept.
If you find your feet are aching from too much shopping on Oxford Street, this little gem is well worth the walk a little further from the bustle.
