Such an inauspicious location. Perhaps the (not-unwarranted) three pint rating reflects our relief more than anything else; suffice to say there are not many good pubs in this area. First off, its massive: two separate bars and a huge back garden (complete with the fountain in the title) means space for a pool table, table footy, pinball, a giant screen and a stage for bands - and that was all in just one of the bars. Pots, pans and fishing nets hang from all over the ceiling and the wall space is filled with scores of metal adverts for prewar delicacies like Bovril. There are some local 'characters', to put it nicely, but they keep themselves to themselves and with a late licence on weekends, the friendly enough doormen mean there's no shenanigans from anyone. Still, on our visit we saw some great rock bands and had a good time, with friendly service in a lively atmosphere. Best pub in the area.
