The Bishop, East Dulwich
FancyaPint?'s review...
If you know The Castle in Camberwell, then you'll get the idea of this one, as this is it's sister pub run by the same owners. (Wonder when we'll see the Pawn, The Knight, etc). It's been very recently refurbished, and the décor is all very modern but with a retro sort of feel to it, big glass coffee tables and patterned wallpaper, which makes a nice change from your spit and sawdust affair. The atmosphere is pretty average and it's just a tad plain. You can't grumble about the food but the service is a little odd. They will come and serve you at the table if they see your empty glass but then they'll do things like aimlessly take away your menus before you've ordered. It seems they attempt to make an effort but don't quite carry it through. Also like The Castle they have that ridiculous procedure where you can only order a small glass of wine, that comes in a humungous glass. We can't understand the logic in that. And an average range of bitters. (New picture to come).
