Sir Winston Churchill, Loughton
FancyaPint?'s review...
If we were to tell you this is a locals pub, that would hardly come as a surprise, now would it? Deep in the wilds of Loughton, it could hardly be anything else but a traditional pub that seems to meet the needs of its patrons. It's a bit tired around the edges, but it's working hard to get the punters in with lots of live music, open mic nights, pub grub and a carvery as well. Located on a busy roundabout just off the M11, it's in a prime location and we guess it's capitalising on that. Staff are friendly enough and the locals aren't intimidating, however loud they might be. It's a good place to meet, as it's the first thing you come to out of the tube, that is, if you've got a reason to meet someone there, of course. For us, the real ale was verging on turning and we can't say we'd go out of our way to get there, but it mostly does what it needs to and is hardly a terrible place to go.
