Despite the name, Shaw's Booksellers really is a place for food and drink. It's one of Fuller's upmarket venues, where the drinks list and menus are designed for the clientele culled from the surrounding City offices. As a result, there's a less-than-usual emphasis on Fuller's own excellent products - only a couple of ales on the hand pumps - and more on food and wine. And naturally, the upmarket fare attracts an upmarket price. It's a nice enough place though, the drink and food is of good quality and the industrial past of the premises has been preserved in the decor. The bare-bones wooden furniture complements it, without being uncomfortable and there's a nod to the place's literary roots with a few books scattered around the place - we particularly liked the cheesy 1980's annuals behind the bar. Bang on target for the demographic, it's a popular haunt with the City crowd and towards the end of the week - you'll find it difficult to get a table unless you get here early.
