Rather strangely for this part of the world, pubs seem to swing between scary local blokes pubs and more upmarket gastro conversions. This one is no exception, making a rather nice local gastropub with lots of room, London Pride on tap as well as more european offerings and a kids play area in the large beer garden. It's got friendly staff and patterned wallpaper - we were a bit disappointed it wasn't the gastro green - but don't let that put you off. It's friendly and the kids weren't much bother when we were in last. It still has traditional touches, like a dart board, and feels like a pub as opposed to a restaurant with beer. Good. It does have a separate dining area and the promise of Sunday roast does sound like it's a draw. We'd be happy to have it as our local.
