Oarsman, Bloomsbury

For its location, this smallish pub is all right. Friendly bar staff and regulars made it far mor enjoyable than a lot of pubs in this part of London. We put this down (partly) to the dodgy appearance of the pub - it looks rough, and it hasn't been done up in some time. Not a bad place to meet, particularly if you're heading down Shaftesbury Avenue to the theatre district. Good beer, available to hire, excellent music. Try it.
Gone for good - possibly a restuarant

Holborn: From the station, cross Kingsway. Proceed along High Holborn until the road branches - the pub should be on the corner between the two branches.Tottenham Court Road: Take the Dominion Theatre exit and proceed along New Oxford Street until the road branches into Bloomsbury Way and New Oxford Street. Take the New Oxford branch and the pub will be on the right just ahead.
