The worst time to visit this pub is at 6:30 on Friday night in summer. The Marquess of Anglesey will be absolutely packed with tourists, office workers celebrating the end of another week and people on their way out for the night. The rest of the time it's just full. It's an easy place to find (hence it's a useful rendezvous) and it's not too bad a pub in itself - despite the All Bar One look. It's a Young's pub after all - but the endless tides of people coming in and out throughout the day don't make this the place for a relaxing pint. it's no surprise to see all of Young's beers on tap here, though we weren't expecting the extra pump dispensing Pimm's... Recent reports suggest the beer's variable, too. Sad.

Avoid this place where possible!

Me and 9 other friends attempted to enter this pub on saturday as part of our yearly christmas pub crawl. we went in at midday for our first pint of the day. As we got inside there were one or two people at tables eating lunch, but on the whole reasonably quiet. As we attempted to get our order together the barman said to us "sorry lads we don't cater for groups" confused by this we asked what he meant and he said that as people were quietly having lunch they couldn't accommodate us. We tried to reason with him saying that we were literally staying for one drink and then leaving, he said "if my manager comes down and sees a group of lads he won't be happy" essentially telling us that in a recession his manager wouldn't be happy to receive money from us? We then went on to say that if we were 10 pensioners you wouldn't be asking us to leave! Not surprisingly he didn't have an answer to this, instead saying why not come back at 6pm!

Ludicrous reasoning and totally unreasonable, wouldn't go back there if i was given free drinks all night! AVOID!
