Refurbished and gastrofied a few years ago, the Maid of Muswell is another feather in the cap of the M&B chain. The décor is pretty standard for the genre, but it's clean and comfy. As with others in the chain, the emphasis isn't entirely on the food and the beer's been given plenty of consideration. There are always interesting real ales on the hand pumps, including guest beers, quite a few weissbiers and ciders and a decent wine list to accompany your food. The food itself ranges from modern snacks, through ciabattas and main courses to an excellent full Sunday dinner. A barbecue also makes an appearance at times. Despite the trendification and probably due to the lack of any other real competition in the area, it still attracts a fair few older locals and the crowd is usually good natured. A good pub for the area.
