Joiner's Arms, Camberwell
FancyaPint?'s review...
"Jesus saves sinners - repent and be baptised", or so the fly-posted sticker stuck on the door of the Joiners Arms assured. They were everywhere around Camberwell, but it did add to the faintly surreal atmosphere we encountered inside. Looking half decorated, it was pretty stripped out, with a minimum of furniture and bare, untreated floorboards - it was rather like a 6th form rec. room, but in a good way. Nonetheless, a few original features remain, such as a wall covered in beautiful Victorian tiling, sadly damaged by years of amateur darts players. The music policy is also good here - it was great to hear some Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra, but the jukebox promised a wide range of music, from the latest anaemic-sounding indie bands to various dance compilations. The barn of a back room also provides space to host various late-night DJ Ska oriented nights and live music sessions. Our Saturday evening visit found it rather quiet, but suspect it livens up later on weekends when it looks like it could be pretty good fun.

How to find the Joiner's Arms pub
Not really near a tube , but Denmark Hill train is relatively near. Plenty of bus routes to Camberwell though. Our advice is go to Oval tube and get either 36, 185, 436 from there. The 35 and 45 go from Brixton, too. Once into Camberwell keep an eye out for the pub. Its on the way to Coldharbour Lane.
