Given its relative size, this is more a beer garden with an attached pub rather than the other way round. Still, we stuck to the smallish bar, stocked with all the usual Young's ales, and had a chat with the cheery staff and friendly locals. Built on the site of an old coaching inn, there's still an element of period charm to the place (well, the toilets are in a separate building to the pub). Don't get us wrong, it's still mostly a traditional pub and we like it that way. With the steady increase in Barnes of old pubs scrambling to appeal cool and trendy, it's nice to see this one remaining true to itself.

I went to this pub with my Dad and my wife for fathers day. We ordered three meals and drinks. All three meals were cold, and we sent them back. To be fair, the barman gave us our money back for the meals AND the drinks (which we were happy with.) However, this experience does fit with the persistent rumour I hear around Barnes that this pub is being run down so that the large and wonderful beer garden can be used for flats...
