Clerkenwell House, Farringdon
FancyaPint?'s review...
Clerkenwell House has had a makeover as an even loungier bar than before and if possible, it's even more achingly trendy than it was before: multiple retro wallpaper patterns, '60s and '70s-style chandeliers and furniture that wouldn't have looked out of place in Abigail's Party. The drinks tend toward cocktails, with a few lagers and Guinness on draught and a small selection of bottled European beers - and it's not cheap, but the food is decent and the service friendly. But then again, in the heart of designer-land, it's another place to be seen to be seen, we guess and it's definitely the place to pose, judging from the short time we spent there. It wasn't what we were in the mood for, to be honest, although it certainly had a healthy clientele who obviously were happy to be there.
