Camden Eye (ex Halfway House), Camden
FancyaPint?'s review...
A couple of years ago there was a refit and name charge for this Camden institution, the closest pub to the tube station, becoming the Camden Eye instead of the Halfway House. The result certainly isn't revolutionary, but has successfully made use of the limited space in the small wedge-shaped bar and is definitely an improvement. Stools and tall tables may not be great for extended periods, or for those inebriated enough to fall off them, but for a transient crowd looking for a handy meeting spot this shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps the lofty position now afforded to the punters has inspired the new name. It is a great spot to keep an eye on the many characters' that frequent the locality and certainly a decent enough place to spend a couple of hours.

I visited Camden for the first time in 15 years and ended up at the Camden Eye. Not impressed.
The pint of bitter was okay, but that pint plus a pint of lager came to £8. This is an ordinary pub, well positioned, but it is not a 5 star hotel bar, nor an exclusive nightclub. The barman, friendly enough, was unable to produce a price list; and to add insult to injury, they had no Irish whiskey.
The people of Camden must be rich. Recession, what recession?
