Rutland & Derby Arms, Leicester
FancyaPint?'s review...
Rather like a Kinder egg, the Rutland & Derby offers a surprise beyond the unassuming exterior. Rolling distance from the pedestrianised centre of Leicester, from the outside it looks like a traditional pub housed in an attractive Victorian property. It might have been traditional once, but now inside you'll find a modern, continental-looking bar. Drinkers are well catered for, with a surprisingly good choice of ales and continental lager, while wine drinkers won't have trouble finding something, either. There were still a couple of older fellas propping up the bar on our afternoon visit, but we know it proves popular with students who brave the above average prices. With three or four separated areas, its larger than it initially looks, too. Modern, comfortable and not trying too hard - we like it here.

How to find the Rutland & Derby Arms pub
From Leicester station, exit right, cross over and follow the road down Granby Street, which eventually becomes pedestrianised. The 7th turning on the left should be Horsefair Street, which segues into Millstone Lane. The pub will soon be on the left, on the corner of Marble Street.
