Looking Glass, Leicester
FancyaPint?'s review...
With the frontage of an old shop and part of an attractive parade, the Looking Glass is certainly initially striking. The interior can't quite live up to this promise, but this is still a good bar in an area where competition is fierce. Two ground floor rooms provide plenty of space whilst the basement bar serves up live music and other events. Drinks-wise there's a reasonable range of lagers, complemented by an enormous range of spirits: so many, in fact that the bartenders have one of those wheeled library ladders to access them. On our Saturday evening visit, the crowds didn't really pick up until after 9pm, so if you want a seat on weekend evening, best get here before then.
