In the outskirts-of-London village of Arkley, we weren't surprised to discover another Ember Inns pub. And if truth be told, we're getting a bit tired of them now. One of the many brandings of the M&B empire (which includes All Bar One and O'Neills) we can't help but feel this is a contrived and calculated attempt to put pub goers into a particular demographic, just like any of their other aforementioned brands. However, there's little to complain about inside the Arkley Hotel - like all the other Ember Inns we've reviewed, it has hotel lobby style fittings in pastel hues, a good choice of the beer, reasonable food and good service. The problem is that its hard to have individuality or creativity when almost everything's decided at head office. Ultimately, we've seen it all before too many times now, but if you haven't, its perfectly OK for a drink.

Food is fantastic - if you close your eyes it's like your in a michelin star restaurant, plus it stocks my favourite lager at the moment Pilsner Urquell.
