The Black Lion Hotel is a pretty ordinary, blokes' boozer. There are a couple of decent ales on the hand pumps - Everard's Tiger and the rather more local Evan Evans's Sais Slayer - the usual gas-powered suspects on tap and, given the rather small size of the bar, a surprising range of bottled drink (including little bottles of wine, for the ladies - we guess). Although there are two pool tables offering a sporting challenge to punters, the true focus of the pub is the Aberaeron Football club - it's hard to ignore; the walls are adorned with images of the club's history and their achievements over the years are documented in fine detail. The service is friendly enough, but the atmosphere's somewhat cold. You don't have to be an Aberaeron F.C. Fan to have a drink in here, but it probably helps.
